Curiosidades:

Primeiro disco com Michael Kiske nos vocais, o primeiro como quinteto.

A primeira escolha para um novo vocalista seria inicialmente Ralph Scheeper (Tyran Pace/Gamma Ray/Primal Fear), visto que Kai Hansen tinha dificuldades de cantar e tocar guitarra ao mesmo tempo, mas a escolha de Ralph acabou não acontecendo (Ralph e Kai tralhariam juntos poucos anos depois no Gamma Ray). Diz a lenda que a mudança de ideia por optar por outro vocalista teria sido após a banda ter ouvido a música “Queen Of The Reich”  do Queensrÿche, a banda passara a procurar um vocalista com as mesmas características de Geoff Tate, chegando então em Michael Kiske, um jovem vocalista de 18 anos.

Para a gravação de “Keepers”, (inicialmente o disco seria lançado como um disco duplo, mas por alguns problemas foi lançado de forma individual) foi contratado os produtores os dois Tommys (Newton e Hansen). Os dois se dividiram nas funções de produtores e engenheiros de som e o resultado foi essa maravilha (muito mais bem gravado e produzido que o seu antecessor).

É interessante informar que na primeira parte da saga “Keeper Of The Seven Keys”, Kai Hansen quem escreve a maioria das músicas, responsável pela parte mais rápida e pesada do grupo. A segunda parte quem escreve a maioria das músicas é Michael Weikath que dá mais foco para as partes mais melódicas e comerciais do grupo. Weikath participa pouco da primeira partem gravando apenas os solos (sendo que as bases da primeira parte dos Keepers são todas feitas pelo Kai Hansen) devido alguns problemas psicológicos tendo se concentrado apenas aos solos (dessa primeira parte).
